Your day
For this trip your pre-booked taxi will collect you from Wick John o’Groats airport and within minutes you’ll be standing on the quay at Wick harbour, clad in cosy waterproofs and a life jacket, ready for a rib-adventure like no other.
10.30 – 12.00 Caithness Seacoast Tours offer exhilarating trips in their 12-seater speedboat, taking in castles, sea stacks, towering cliffs, and windfarms, all from the unique perspective of the water. Experience the Caithness coastline like never before. Visit the famous Whaligoe Steps, the Pentland Skerries, lighthouses, and more, and of course, enjoy our abundant local wildlife. Unforgettable!
12.00 – 2.00 Windswept and grinning, you’ll have worked up an appetite for lunch. Stroll the five minutes through historic Pulteneytown to Mackays Hotel and their prized No 1 Bistro for a lunch of well-prepared, fresh local produce. Yes, you’ve got time for a relaxing glass of wine from their extensive list, you’re not driving later, are you?
Or you can continue exploring with a walk down to Wick Harbour. The perfect place if you fancy some local fish and chips, or something lighter to takeaway and sit by the water and enjoy the view!
2.00 – 4.00 We hope you’re not driving because next on your list for today is a tour of the UK’s most northerly mainland whisky distillery, Old Pulteney. Known as The Maritime Malt, this is a dram that has been crafted using the same traditional methods since 1826. There’s an opportunity to taste, and purchase, after your tour. This might be the time to check your baggage into the hold on your return flight to Aberdeen, the cost of that is included in your ticket price.
A taxi will pick you up from the distillery door to take you the short trip back to the airport. What a day, wildlife on the waves, an excellent lunch, and a really special dram.
Slainte, and Haste ye Back!
