Thurso Golf Club
Thurso is a wonderful parkland course and the most northerly golf course on the British mainland. It has fantastic views across the Pentland Firth to the Orkney Isles and of the surrounding countryside. The course has a mix of tree and whin lined fairways. The club is reknowned for its friendly welcome and when visiting do not be afraid to ask to join local members as they would be delighted to show you round. The clubhouse always has a warm welcome so enjoy a refreshment after your round.
Reay Golf Club
Reay Golf Club lies on the edge of Sandside Bay in the far north of Scotland and offers panoramic views of the Pentland Firth and North Atlantic from every hole on the course.
The renowned golf course architect Donald Steele is quoted as saying of Reay, “In a different location, it would enjoy worldwide acclaim.” But it is precisely the location that gives the course at Reay its great distinction, as the most northernly18 hole links course on the British mainland
The greens are typically large, oval in shape and very well maintained. The fairways are composed of wiry links turf that encourages the use of bump and run shots that are quite useful as the wind is a prominent factor here.
It does take an effort to travel this far north but Reay certainly repays that effort with a classic links golfing experience. It’s hard to do better.
Lybster Golf Club
As Lybster Golf Club is one of the (if not the) shortest 9 hole courses (3,858 yards, par 62, SSS 61) in Scotland it is very popular with a wide range of golfers of varying age groups and abilities.
Our longest hole is only 318 yards and our shortest (although by no means the easiest) is only 90 yards. The entire course is laid out in only 15 acres of land. The benefit of this is that you are never miles away from the clubhouse / car park if you have had enough or if the weather becomes inclement.
Membership is open to all – no waiting lists!
A warm welcome, and a golfing challenge, awaits you at Lybster Golf Club.
