One night at sea. A creel boat is in deep trouble off the Caithness coast. Wick lifeboat is launched. Onshore, at Wick ship-to-shore radio station, an officer maintains communications while struggling with his own turbulent life. A feast of Caithness and Sutherland talent premieres this new storytelling and music performance. It has been created by prolific Scottish screenwriter, playwright and radio dramatist Colin MacDonald (Sharpe’s Honour, Calum’s Road) whose work has been shown worldwide, and one of the most exciting and innovative voices in contemporary Scottish traditional music, the fiddler, composer and tutor Gordon Gunn, who is a member of the touring band Session A9. Colin and Gordon grew up next door to each other in Wick. They are joined on piano by the composer and musician James Ross, also from Wick, the accordionist Carol-Anne Mackay, from Sutherland, the actor Helen Mackay from Thurso, and Wick RNLI Ladies Choir. It promises to be an evening to remember.
