We warmly invite you to join us for a festive event with a fusion of Scottish and Ukrainian traditional food, music, and dance, and seasonal activities for the kids. The event will be an occasion to celebrate the People’s Mobile Archive winning the Museum Association award as Best Small Museum with our volunteers and community.
Join us for an afternoon of food, culture, singing, dancing, and seasonal crafts celebrating Ukrainian culture and our award-winning People’s Mobile Archive. Please bring a dish, and a song or poem!
The celebrations will open up with a festive lunch (12-1pm) with a mix of Ukranian and Scottish dishes. We ask that everyone bring a dish to share: cook a savoury recipe or bake a cake and bring it along to enjoy it together. The festivities will continue with an open mic session (1-2pm), an opportunity to share music, songs, dances, or poems.
During the afternoon, we will have a seasonal craft session for kids (1-3pm), making this event a space for families with children of all ages. Share the festive spirits, taking part in our Scottish Ceilidh (2-3pm), dancing to traditional tunes. All dances will be explained by our incredible volunteers, so that taking part is as accessible as possible, no matter your level of expertise!
The event will come to an end with a wonderful performance by the Helmsdale Choir (3-3:30pm), sharing festive songs and tunes to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
