Waterlines is the home of Lybster Heritage Trust, established in December 1997. Our centre is located at Lybster harbour and celebrates the 19th and early 20th century fishing industry when Lybster was a busy fishing port, particularly during the herring fishing boom.
Waterlines has a cafe and small shop as well as displays and exhibits depicting the north-east fishing industry.
Today the harbour has local fishing boats which set creels and fish along the coastline for lobster, crab, prawn, and fish.
Our rotating exhibition space will highlight work by local artists as well as artifacts and events related to the story of Lybster. The space will also be available for pop up events.
The car park for the Waterlines Cafe is located at the front of the buildings. There are some outside tables where you can sit and enjoy refreshments purchased from the café as well as the spectacular view.
At the front of Waterlines there is a small pebble beach which is a great spot for whale watching, seal spotting and seaglass hunts.
We are family and dog friendly.
