This former sporting lodge is nestled within the sleepy village of Tongue on the north coast of the stunning Scottish highlands. We are located on the famous NC500 route and are perfectly located for exploring the North.

Overlooking the beautiful Kyle, the stunning Ben Loyal, and the gentle sweep of Ben Hope with Castle Varrich in the foreground, the Tongue Hotel offers the visitor a glimpse of its glamorous past and reflects a bygone era.

Built in the mid 1800s and owned by the Duke of Sutherland, the hotel boasts 19 unique bedrooms and many original features such as wood panelling, open fires, traditional antique furnishings, genuine exhibits and authentic paintings. Steeped in history, the hotel has a romantic, enchanting feel which delights and excites all who enter here.

Twin, double and family rooms all designed to a high quality achieving the delicate balance between regard for its history whilst providing modern day comfort. All rooms are ensuite providing bath, shower or bath and shower units, should you have a preference just simply enquire on booking.

Hike up rugged Ben Loyal or the gentler Ben Hope for breathtaking views across northern Sutherland and Caithness or enjoy leisurely walks along the quiet shoreline. Our charming restaurant is open daily and we promise to deliver a taste of Scotland, utilising fresh local produce available from a natural Scottish larder. Join us in the Brass Tap Bar (Thurs - Sun evenings) for a tasty bar menu plus Scottish ales, gins and whiskies. Live music in the Brass Tap at the end of the month.
