The Forsinain Trail
The Forsinain Trail offers a journey through the distinctive terrain of the Flow Country, guiding you across areas of farmland, open hills, and land previously used for plantations.
The farmland serves as a vital feeding site for bird species such as curlew, golden plover, and dunlin. Along the route, you’ll also pass through a region dotted with dubh-lochains and a small loch, which occasionally hosts breeding red-throated divers.
Getting there: Head north on the A897; the trail begins approximately 4 miles beyond Forsinard. Parking is available at the RSPB Scotland car park, located opposite the concrete bridge.
Trail start coordinates: NC 903 485
- Distance: 4 miles / 6.5km
- Grade: Easy to moderate
- Highlights: See local bird life as well as peatland restoration in action in the heart of the Flow Country.
