The Strathnaver Trail is a self-guided heritage route through one of Scotland’s most historically rich landscapes. Stretching from Bettyhill to Altnaharra, the trail links 29 archaeological sites that span over 6,000 years of human history, from Neolithic cairns and Iron Age brochs to Pictish stones and abandoned clearance villages.

Visitors can explore the tragic story of the Highland Clearances, the rise of Clan Mackay, and the evolution of crofting life. Interpretation boards and trail markers guide you through this hauntingly beautiful glen, once densely populated and now strikingly silent. The trail begins at the Strathnaver Museum, where maps and guidebooks are available.
