Mary Ann’s Cottage
Step back in time at Mary Ann’s Cottage, a beautifully preserved 19th-century croft located in the village of Dunnet, Caithness.
A crofter’s cottage built in 1850 and occupied until 1990 when Mary-Ann, it’s last inhabitant, left just before her 93rd birthday. Mary Ann’s cottage offers a window on the crofting past and how successibe generations of a crofting family lived and worked over 150 years.
Good to Know – Visitor Tips
Opening Times: Open June to September, Tuesday to Friday, 2–4:30pm. Closed Mondays.
Parking: Free parking available near the site.
Admission: Small entry fee; guided tours included.
Location: Westside Croft, Dunnet, Caithness—just a short drive from Dunnet Head and Dwarwick Pier.
Dog Friendly: Dogs welcome on leads.
Photo Tip: The peat stack and thatched pig hut make for charming rustic shots.
Atmosphere: Expect a warm welcome—and a warm peat fire inside!
