Discover Foinaven, a remote highland giant.

Standing at 911 metres, Foinaven is one of the most striking mountains in the far northwest of Scotland. Though it falls just short of Munro status, this rugged Corbett offers a truly wild and unforgettable experience for adventurous hillwalkers. Its shattered quartzite ridges and dramatic isolation make it a geological and scenic marvel.

The most popular route begins near Gualin House on the A838, descending into Strath Dionard before climbing steeply to the main ridge. The ascent is pathless and demanding, but once on the ridge, a rough trail leads to the summit at Ganu Mòr. A full traverse of Foinaven is a classic expedition, often combined with neighbouring Arkle for a truly epic day in the hills.

From the summit, walkers are rewarded with panoramic views stretching across the lochan-studded moorlands to Cape Wrath, Arkle, Ben Stack, and even the distant sands of Balnakeil Bay.
