Birkenshaw at Fiddler’s Green Highlands

Birkenshaw, our beautiful Shepherd’s hut, is the perfect place to stay, whether you want to explore this wonderful corner of the Scottish Highlands with its fantastic walks, wonderful wildlife, historical visits and so much more, or to learn a new skill with traditional wool craft tuition available by prearrangement.

With immersion into nature, dark skies, aurora watching, star gazing, a chance to switch off and unwind but still easy access to local amenities. Rustic and charming off grid hut, veggie garden shower and our gorgeous, woodland, compost loo with a view!

Set to a wonderful backdrop of fields, hills and glen and looking out to a distant sea view, Birkenshaw is a gorgeous and cosy space with rustic, handmade, vintage and bespoke décor. Our ethos is to be as environmentally friendly as we can be and we really hope this shows in every aspect of your stay.

The hut is fully insulated with British sheep’s wool and heated by a hobbit woodburning stove. There is a full-sized double bed with organic, sprung mattress and organic or vintage bedding and also a small table and chairs with fireside chair for snoozing by the woodburner.

With the additional use of our stunning sunroom up at the main house, you will find extra on grid cooking and dining facilities with space to spread out, dry your clothes, if needed and cosy by a second woodburner.

Its more than a holiday, its an experience. Stay a while and nourish your soul.
