“Bishops, Butter and Beer Cellars..” – a talk by Stephen Barnaby

February 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

‘Bishops, Butter and Beer Cellars: The Role of Caithness in the Demise of the Northern Scottish Norse Jarldoms’ – a talk by Stephen Barnaby.
Fresh from his MLitt in Viking Studies, Thurso-raised Stephen Barnaby shares some of his research, exploring Caithness’ messy but central role in the downfall of the Norse line of Northern Scottish jarls, from maltreated men of God to ale-house assassinations.

Stephen Barnaby was raised in Thurso many moons ago. However, despite being Viking-daft since childhood, he has only recently graduated from the University of Highlands and Islands with an MLitt in Viking Studies. And now, at the Archive Centre, he will share some of his findings from his research into Caithness’ role in the downfall of the Northern Scottish Jarldoms.
