Our location is one of our major assets. From our site on the outskirts of Thurso we overlook Thurso Bay and the Pentland Firth. Stay with us and you will have a convenient base from which to explore the further reaches of Caithness and Sutherland as well as the Orkney Isles. Orkney is ninety minutes away via the three ferry companies based at Scrabster, Gills Bay, or John O’Groats.
The Park
This lovely 4.5-acre campsite, located on the northwestern outskirts of Thurso, provides the best of both worlds: stunning rural coastal views with easy access to town amenities. We are a family friendly park and welcome children and pets. We ask only for responsible supervision of children and animals in your care.
Facilities: Sixty-six (66) pitches (36 of which are hard-standing); Electric Hookups; Motorhome Service Points (chemical waste and grey water disposal/potable water available from any of the six taps dispersed around the site); Individual Changing and Shower Rooms (cleaned daily and protected by security locks), Disabled Toilet and Shower Room; Hair Dryer and Electric Shave Points; Laundry Facilities (tokens may be purchased at the registration desk); Dishwashing Area; WiFi available; BT hotspot zone. We can accommodate approximately thirty (30) tents in four separate areas around the park.
Offsite: There is a Lidl Grocery Store just across the street from the site, as well as a Tesco and Co-op a short walk away; there are 4 banks with ATMs available within a short distance, as well as numerous pubs, shops, etc. There is a bus stop next to the campsite, and taxis will pick up and drop passengers in our car park.
THE BLUE DOOR COFFEE SHOP & DINER, THURSO BAY
Located on-site, the restaurant is Thurso's indie burger joint, coffee shop, and ice cream parlour all rolled into one... serving locals and area visitors alike original beef burgers, hot dogs, fish 'n' fries as well as its own artisan ice cream and specialty milk shakes and coffees. Take-away available (great food and the great outdoors from the comfort of your tent, caravan, or motorhome). FOOD SERVICE STOPS 15 MINUTES BEFORE CLOSING.
Activities
Wondering what to do once here? Parents and children will enjoy Thurso beach which is less than two hundred meters from our park, strolling along Victoria Walk to the mouth of the Thurso River. Further afield what you do is determined by your interests. Whether it is geology, archaeology, bird watching, surfing, kayaking, wind-surfing, hill walking, or history you will find something to that can be enjoyed by the whole family in a day’s outing.
