Culgower House is a Victorian farmhouse, built around 1850, set in its own private grounds, with hills behind, glorious views out over the Moray Firth and beaches within walking distance. A beautifully refurbished family home with local textiles, original art and a mix of antique and contemporary furniture. We offer a tranquil, rural, Highland retreat with warm hospitality.
Our two bedrooms have king-size beds, sea views, fresh flowers, touches of the local tweeds, great linens, their own bathrooms with large baths and separate, walk-in showers and organic, local toiletries. Guests have the use of a warm, inviting sitting room with a piano and a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. There are plenty of books, suggested day trips and local tourist information and Catriona and John are always happy to help you plan your days to help you make the most of your time in the area. Other facilities include private parking, a drying room for wet clothing and equipment, a boot room for secure storage of bicycles and free wi-fi throughout the house. A tour of the house is available on our website.
We prepare breakfast using as much local produce as possible, including vegetables, fruit and herbs from the garden, eggs from our hens and homemade breads and jams; and we are delighted to hold VisitScotland's Taste Our Best award. Tea, coffee and home baking are offered on arrival and we also offer a small selection of light suppers which can be pre-booked; alternatively there are a range of eating out options in nearby Helmsdale and Brora.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home and sharing with you this very special part of the Scottish Highlands. Open March to October.
