A radio station is situated on the summit of the Hill of Harland and post-war RAF vertical aerial photographs show seven masts, a receiving / transmitting block and electricity generating block. This WWII VHF station for Wick Airfield was later redeveloped as a ROTOR radar station during the post war period. However, although completed no equipment was every installed and it never became operational.
