Set in the former Thurso Town Hall and Carnegie Library, the North Coast Visitor Centre has been extensively refurbished and houses a magnificent collection laying out the history of Caithness and the Dounreay Exhibition. The centre has a cafe, art gallery, shop and much more.
MUSEUM
North Coast Visitor Centre houses a permanent exhibition which uses the Museum’s Collection of objects to tell the story of the county of Caithness from the geological period known as the Devonian (about 416 to 359 million years ago) to the present day.
GALLERY
North Coast Visitor Centre is home to a temporary exhibition gallery, which plays host to an annual programme of challenging exhibitions.
CAFÉ NORTH
North Coast Visitor Centre has a lovely Gift Shop and Cafe which serves delicious home baking and wonderful hot chocolates. Cafe North also has free WiFi for customers.
