This landscape has, in the main, escaped the touch of man and has been designated as a Special Landscape Area which goes from Oldshoremore to Durness, which is home to a wide diversity of wildlife. The cliffs around this cape are an internationally known site for over 50000 nesting sea birds, including colonies of Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Fulmars and Kittiwakes.
The harbour porpoise, common seal and bottle-nosed dolphin are common sights along this coast.
