We will be running a series of creative writing sessions at the Ross Institute this year. The sessions will be informal and friendly and designed to help writers develop their work. The shape and structure of the sessions will be decided by those who attend. Each session will have a theme which can be (but doesn’t have to be!) related to Sìdh C Art’s overall theme of ‘rocks and minerals of Caithness’. You’ll be invited to share some writing you have done about the theme of the session. The writing might be a story, a song, a poem, a report, a scientific study or something else and by sharing their work, writers will inspire each other. You can also share favourite passages from books or literature that you enjoy. The group will be invited to work together on a project for the ‘Caithness Art and Stone Festival’ in August 2025. There is an idea of what this could be but the details will come with time! Pilot session: Sat Jan 18th 12-2pm Ross Institute Halkirk The theme: Fire! Where did fire come from? What is it made of? What it is used for and what does it mean? Are there new ways to make fire? You will be invited to share your piece of writing on the theme with the group. If you have any access requirements, please do get in touch using the contact form below and we will make any adjustments we can.
