We also want whole families to feel comfortable coming together\, no matter what the ages of your group. Previously interpreted as abiogenic structures and reinterpreted as microbial stromatolites\, which may indicate the presence of a range of calcifying and non-calcifying microbial communities during deposition of the Stoer Group\, could these fascinating and mysterious structures be the earliest evidence of life in Britain? \n  \nPeter first discovered the carbonates within the Stoer Group whilst mapping the Stoer Peninsula as an undergraduate student at Leeds University. Now a visiting lecturer at Manchester University\, Peter has spent his professional career looking at carbonate systems of all ages from all over the world. \n  \nFree to attend. DESCRIPTION:The Dornoch Whisky Festival is an enormously popular annual event in Dornoch. \nAs a firm fixture in the Autumn calendar\, the Dornoch Whisky Festival offers a relaxing weekend of whisky-related activities in the beautiful Highland town of Dornoch. \nWe have many whisky related (and some non-whisky related!) events happening throughout the town at the end of October with our main Grand Tasting that features over 20 brands. \nOn top of this we have fantastic dinners at the Dornoch Castle Hotel\, Links House at Royal Dornoch and Dornoch Station Hotel as well as brand tastings held at the Eagle Hotel\, the Royal Dornoch Golf Club and independently run specialist tastings from Dornoch Distillery and the Carnegie Whisky Cellars – as well as lots more on offer throughout the weekend.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce The Helmsdale Classic Vehicle Rally will be on Sunday 24th August in the Helmsdale Football Field at 12 – 4:30pm. There will be a wide range of vintage and classic vehicles and everything in between on display. We will be starting out small but we will have food vendors and kids’ activities set up alongside our exhibits to make it a grand day out for the whole family. Helmsdale will be hosting us for the first time\, for our second vehicle rally of the year. We hope this rally will continue to grow in years to come.
