Along with industrial and flower sections such as: baking\, crafts\, creative and flowers. The Northern Quality Produce Marquee offers a fantastic shopping opportunity and showcases the best food\, drink and artisan crafts in Caithness\, as well as welcoming visitors from further afield. A diverse range of vendors make up the outdoor Trade Stand area\, with stands selling everything from agricultural machinery to toys and artwork\, as well as many informational exhibitors. The show day is rounded off with a buffet dance held in a town centre venue.

However\, we know each child is different and that a 2/3 year old might well enjoy it as much as a 10 year old! We also want whole families to feel comfortable coming together\, no matter what the ages of your group. Parents and carers know your children best\, so we’re happy for you to decide if you think your child will enjoy the show.

The event will be an occasion to celebrate the People’s Mobile Archive winning the Museum Association award as Best Small Museum with our volunteers and community. \nJoin us for an afternoon of food\, culture\, singing\, dancing\, and seasonal crafts celebrating Ukrainian culture and our award-winning People’s Mobile Archive. Please bring a dish\, and a song or poem! \nThe celebrations will open up with a festive lunch (12-1pm) with a mix of Ukranian and Scottish dishes. We ask that everyone bring a dish to share: cook a savoury recipe or bake a cake and bring it along to enjoy it together. The festivities will continue with an open mic session (1-2pm)\, an opportunity to share music\, songs\, dances\, or poems. \nDuring the afternoon\, we will have a seasonal craft session for kids (1-3pm)\, making this event a space for families with children of all ages. Share the festive spirits\, taking part in our Scottish Ceilidh (2-3pm)\, dancing to traditional tunes. DESCRIPTION:For anyone interested in Gaelic\, a whole day of workshops with a wide variety of activities to suit all ages has been organised for next month. All sessions will be held largely through the medium of Gaelic\, but due to the practical nature of these they are suitable for complete beginners up to fluent speakers.\n\n\nDAYTIME WORKSHOPS:\n\n\nLeugh is Seinn Le Linda: \n\n\nLinda\, a Gaelic singer\, has been running Gaelic sessions for babies and younger children for years. She is the perfect person to introduce wee ones and their parents/carers to Gaelic through songs and stories using actions and puppets.\n\n\nLinda will do sessions for two age groups: 0-5 years and parents/carers and P1-P3.\n\n\nYou can sample some of Linda’s sessions online by searching YouTube for Leugh is Seinn le Linda.\n\n\nSpòrs Gàidhlig \n\n\nSpòrs Gàidhlig\, who specialise in Gaelic outdoor activities for youngsters\, will hold an orienteering session for children in P4-S3.\n\n\nIn addition to this there will be a giant Gaelic map jigsaw (almost the size of Lairg Hall!) for this age group to complete in the hall. There is an annual Gaelic filmmaking competition – Film G – and this could be helpful to anyone wanting to take part in it.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdult Gaelic workshops: \n\n\nThere will be beginner\, intermediate and advanced workshops.\n\n\n\n\n\nSongs from East Sutherland (Cataibh) workshop with Duncan Macleod: \n\n\nThis workshop will be based on 2 local songs from the singing of Kate Ross\, Lairg. Anyone who has previously learned these songs is very welcome to come back for a refresher. Open to all levels of Gaelic/singing ability. Adults and accompanied children.\n\n\n\n\n\nSong workshop with Lisa MacDonald: \n\n\nLisa\, conductor of Coisir Ghaidhlig An Iar Thuath\, will lead a song session focusing on one Mackay Country (Dùthaich ‘icAoidh) song and a selection of others. Open to all levels of Gaelic/singing ability. Join Tracy from Butterfly Conservation/Species on the Edge as we open our secret overnight moth traps. It’s like opening a nature treasure chest! You’ll help us identify these fuzzy\, colourful creatures\, learn their names\, and find out how to spot them in your own garden at home. \n\nTime: 11am\n\nStorytime Magic: Tiny Tales with Sally – Perfect for the little ones! Join Sally & Trish for an enchanting storytelling session where butterfly adventures come to life. Children will get to use their imaginations to help create the stories and will make a special butterfly memento to take home and keep the magic alive. \n\nTime: 11am – 2pm\nAges: 3+\n\nThe Butterfly Workshop: Create & Build – Roll up your sleeves and get crafty with Zelka and the LDLC Team. Let’s get creative for our garden friends. Kids can paint\, make beautiful butterflies\, and even build their very own bug houses to give local insects a cosy place to stay. If the weather isn’t too bad\, send the children out into the garden to find different species of butterflies/moths on our mini nature hunt. \n\nTime: Drop-in session between12 noon – 2pm\nAges: 5+\n\nSomewhere in between all of this\, we will be providing a small buffet\, and drinks will be available inside the Centre.\nAll events are FREE to attend; however\, please feel free to drop in a donation if you’re able to. \n\n\nBook places on Eventbrite.
